Forum only readable to users

The server is being hammered again by crawlers, we are seeing tens of thousands of "users" online. Rather than give up and take the whole thing offline, I've switched it over so users must be logged in to even read the forum. I've also removed the ads completely once you're logged in since they are now basically worthless and annoying.

It's not ideal, but it keeps things online for now until I work out a better approach.

    Been a PassatWorld member for a while, but looking for more Aus specific help & info.

    Have a B5 Passat which my bank account hates, mechanics want to avoid and gets driven by the gf more than me. Was decent for the price paid but loves attracting mechanical gremlins and carpark trolleys.

    What kind of kind of mechanical gremlins have you experienced?
    I thought these were quite reliable.
