Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Hi everyone from the Mid North Coast.

I have yet to own a VW. I presently have two Audis which I suppose are rich peoples VWs. I am not rich btw. I am in the market for an SUV and like the look and gear on the Touareg V8 R-Line. I cannot stomach the Audi A7 and although the Audi SQ5 is a contender, the Touareg has a real V8 and so much more for the money, including that 8 inch touchscreen.. I am not a fan of Audi's MMI screen; typing in an address for the sat nav is a frustrating process in the extreme.
The other contender is the Mercedes ML500, which I have read very variable reports on, ranging from glorious to dreadful. I have not seen the same spread of opinions with Touareg. The only thing I can fault on the Touareg is the Cruise Control; there is no speed regulation when you are going downhill. Our Audi A5 applies the brakes to keep within 2km/hr of the set figure.
Any input on any of the topics I have thrown into the air would be much appreciated. btw, I am yet to drive any of these vehicles as none of the local dealers have any.

Well, driven or not, we have ordered a 2014 V8 TDI R-Line, for delivery later in the year.

Can anyone advise please what I can expect to be told by the dealer, or Volkswagen Australia, as the months go by.
