Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT I'm here out of desperation...

Although I live in the capital of our country there seems to be limited assistance available when your beloved T4 Caravelle is playing up, which is why I am here. When the ambient temperature is hot (say 29degrees plus) it turns itself off. I will find the appropriate part of the forum to ask more about this soon.

Other than that that, the Caravelle is the only car I have ever bought my wife (out of about 8 cars over the years) without her seeing/test driving first and she loves it.

I have been told this is the case and I know some vw owners who are happy there (I know there are two locations but independently owned). Unfortunately I have had mixed results when dealing with them (deliberately not saying which location). After a minor service, which apparently didn't even include an oil change, they informed me my tyres needed replacing. I said I had not noticed they were low, to which the 'mechanic' said 'oh, in about 15 to 20 thousand k's'. He was serious that this was useful feedback after a service and said nothing about any other aspect of the car. I prefer to deal with people who take car servcing seriously.

Without knowing which location you had issues with, I'd give Gareth at Northside Europeans a call. He's ex-CVWC Belconnen, now running his own shop - highly recommended. I've seen plenty of T4/T5 vans through his shop (and CVWC) in the past.

I've been using CVWC Belconnen for nearly a decade (and they still do my APR work) and would still recommend them as well.
