  • VIC Hi All

    Hi Forum members,

I am in the market for a newer car and I have been seriously looking at R32 and R36's. I test drove an R32 a week ago and an R36 a couple of days ago and I must say I was very impressed!

I come from a car enthusiast background having constructed a few dune buggies in the '70's for running the dunes and a bit of club rallying in the late 70's, early 80's in both front dive and rear drive cars. I love driving a nice performance car and have always had something with a bit of go including a Valiant Pacer, Bolwell Nagari 351, VL turbo's and lately a BA Xr6 turbo.

I also had an old Beetle 1200 for a few years in the 70's as my 'recreational bush bashing' vehicle!

At the moment I am tossing up over another new XR6 or G6E turbo or a good used R32 (wife's preference) or R36. Reading a lot of information on these forums has helped me sort out a lot of question I had about ownership of these VW classics.

    Thanks to all for that!

Well I decided to buy a white R36 Wagon. Had it for a few days now and must say I am really impressed with it as a package! It rides pretty firm, almost harsh on the notoriously disgraceful South Gippsland roads, but at speed it is extremely stable.
Still trying to work out all the settings and do-dads!

Congratulations on the purchase mate. Surprised you didn't follow through with the R32

You've definitely come to the right place.
