  • Melbourne -Newbie In the market for a Multivan 4 Motion DTI400 7 Seats

    Hi all,

We are in the market for a Multivan 4 Motion DTI400 7 Seats in the Comfortline or Highline

Love the seat configuration.... no longer require hiring Bunnings van to take stuff home which is great

First time owning a VW and a car new over 40K

We have a quote back for the Multivan HIGHLINE TDI400 4 MOTION no upgrades is $88,000 non fleet price and Comfortline TDI400 $68,000 fleet price

As a newbie in purchasing a new car and deal with a dealer first time ever I have no clues on how to Negotiating how much do I bring the price down 1%, 2% ????

Appreciate if you can share your exprience and how you Negotiate for your car....how much I expect to pay for TDI400 4 MOTION in the Highline or Comfortline

I'll be sharing my experience and journey along the way

This is the begin of a journey and thank you for been part of it.

Try to contact as many dealers for a quote as you can, inclding those further from you. Also, do a search on carsales.com.au to check what cars are in stock , you are more likely to get a discount on something they already have on the lot.

Sales guys will typically only quote you list prices until they know you're serious. Tell them when you want to buy (today/tomorrow /next week) and ask for their absolute best price.

Also, maybe save some money by going for a less expensive spec in the range, based on this:
        * new model multivan is out in 2015, you dont want to be stuck with older-gen $88k car (see Neuer VW T6 startet 2015: Neuer Bus auf alter Basis - autobild.de)
        * multivan strong point is its function, not realibility. Better to risk a cheaper spec.
        * a few days ago there was another recall of (other VW models) DGS due to a problem that occurs in humid, hot, slow speed conditions. I doublt you'd want to risk your DSG by doing any 4-Motion activities.
