Hello from Melbourne!

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post to introduce myself! My name is Matt and I'm living in Melbourne.

Just bought a 2001 Mk4 2.0 GLE Golf yesterday (I believe they call them 2.slows??? haha). Needed a cheap runabout car while I'm living in Melbourne and didn't want to part the cash to get a GTi (that can come later ).

It's really clean, looks great and I got an inspection done which came up flawless.. so I'm a very happy man right now! Future mods; nothing big really, pretty happy so far. However little things such as; K&N air filter, stubby antenna, maybe *remote* central locking. I also want to come up with an elegant way to integrate my iPhone with the Pioneer head unit it has in it at the moment.

I'm in your position haha, had my GTI about 3 months now and haven't done anything to it yet.

I bought my car modded and I don't like the mods so I'm in the process of buying stock parts to revert it.

I'm going with a full R32 replica kit, I can't wait!

Ahh cool! How much is that costing you (with paint, etc) out of interest??

I live in Port Melbourne and work in the city. Yourself?

The kit is approx. $900 delivered and paint and fitting should be another $500 or so. Pretty expensive but I figure I'm going to be having the car for a while.

Ahh cool, I'm abit further South in Caulfield, work in Elsternwick.

I think the 3 things that make an immediate change to a car are: Euro plates, Lowering and wheels. Simple and effective

Yeah, I believe the car is already lower than stock as it has 'sports suspension'. Tempted to get Euro plates - it already has slimline state issued one. I am thinking of maybe putting on a dark tint too??

Yea I'm looking at getting tint soon too, not sure who to go with though. I went with Tint Professor on my last car and they were really good! But abit pricey at $295.00

If you guys are interested, I know a guy who works for le tint/tint-a-car, he does private jobs for $180. I got him to do my mk6 last year

He uses the same stuff as le tint/tint-a-car uses, so the same as you'd get if you paid $350 to the franchise for him to do it.
