thermo fan

Hi all. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is or isn't to replace the right side thermo fan from my mk5 Golf? It looks like the whole assembly should pull straight up after removing the shield plastic from around the top of the radiator? Local dealer has quoted me close to $400 for a new fan, but I can get one from the U.S. for just over $100 delivered and hopefully do it myself. (even the wreckers want $200+ ) Thanks

Pull the undertray off, and it'll come out the bottom with a bit of jiggling. You kinda need to rotate the whole assembly and drop the driver's side out first.

Yeh out the bottom but will need to jack the car up quite high to get them out..VDUB...
