Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA Noob to VW

Hi all, I am new to the VW family (as of Monday anyway). I came here looking for info prior to purchase finding a wealth of information which assisted me in deciding which set of wheels to buy.

I purchased a 2012 Passat 118tsi. Feels as though there's a big 6 under the bonnet. Sits on the tarmac with unbelievable security. What a wonderful machine. I drove everything of a similar size from Camry to Commodore (bigger I know) as well an Accord an non could match the level of refinement. Impressive.

Looking forward to taking it for an interstate cruise.

Hey mate, if every Holden was a Passat Australia would become a safer place to drive
You can always go Superb if you need something bigger or the new A6 which imho looks awesome
Good luck with your new ride.

Thanks for the welcome liquidforce & tigger73. I pick it up midday today...only had 4hrs sleep! Takes me back to my childhood when I bought a new BMX which I had in my bedroom for about a week, which I think my wife would be none too pleased if I parked the Passat beside our bed .

Welcome mate. Take some pictures when you drive from the showroom and let the salesman explain you all the features of the car, check all the function and make sure that both keys are working.
We have photos of day one for all our cars, it's good for preserving those memories. Enjoy your ride.
