Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIC Ohaidere! New Dub Dub Dub owner!

    Greetings VWW!

    Welcome to my first post

I'm now an official VeeDub owner with my purchase of a sweet Bora 4-motion!

I had to drive up to the nations capital to pick this one up but it was worth the drive - I do believe it's known around the Euro scene. I know the owner went to quite a few meets & shows. Owner has definitely spent some money over the years to keep it running nice and looking great.

It has been modded and quite tastefully so.
At this stage, I don't have much plans for it visually but rather fix up the tired interior and improve the driveline with bushes replacements and bracing upgrades.

I look forward to joining the Euro/VeeDub community and start seeing like minded enthusiasts at some meets!

So G'day to you and speak soon.

The ride in question (my newest and best mistress!)
Car: 2001 Bora 4-motion in black with tan interior.
    Features:
    - Factory sunroof
    - Climate control & Power windows
    -
    Mods:
    - 18" "Keskin" KT4 Wheels with Goodyear Eagle F1s 235/40/R18 stretched over a 9.5" rim at the back and a 215/40/R18 Kumho KU31's on a 8.5" rim at the front. Wheels imported from Germany. Looks great with nice 1" dish and a bit of stretch.
    - "Tracer" branded adjustable coilovers
    - Far too loud Full aftermarket exhaust system. Twin cat-back system with straight pipes from two hi-flow cats into one hi-flow muffler tucked under the back seat. Finished with some hotdogs along the line from the muffler to stainless steel quad tips.
    - Aftermarket smoked Hella tail lights
    - Old Sony Headunit - will be replaced with full sound system I have from previous car.

          Thanks mate!
I too fell in the love with the look when I first seen it. I personally wouldn't have modified the same way but I like the previous owners style. Being me, I need to change it in the future, but I do love it how it currently - especially the back end with the wide tyres, black smoked tails and shaved bootlid. <3
Stretched tyres are not my thing due to safety concerns but I'm warming to the look.

Just as well you didn't hahaha

The km's are a little higher than average but that doesn't worry me too much. Maintenance is a much bigger factor for me in purchasing than purely a number on the cluster. Besides, I've done plenty of mechanical work on my old car (pretty much everything from changing driveshafts, bearings, bushes to installing a manual gearbox and more)

The good thing with this km bracket is that the clutch & flywheel was replaced and the previous owner had the major service done for me. He spent about 1.8k on the new flywheel & clutch, $800 for the major service and regular 10,000km servicing at $250/service. This was most important too me, and the two other local low km based 4mo's I checked out didn't have such a good service history and I walked away as a result.

Of course this many km's has meant that the car does require a bit of work, but I'm not too worried. All cars need work, at the least the real expensive stuff has been done. There is some bad wear on the interior, the back diff leaks, there's an engine vac/breather hose leak (fuel smell in the cabin) and I can some of the bushes will need to be replaced in the coming few years but again this is just a few hours worth of work and I can order parts online for cheap. Being a weekend car means I don't worry if it goes off the road for a little bit.

          Yep! That's him. Nicely spotted.
It seems that the car is known a bit around the circles due to his involvement in VDub events but I'm struggling to find his online presence with this car. Was he on this forum ?
