Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Just a quick question on my VW T5, ive noticed there is no oil on the dip stick yet i have it serviced every 6 month or there about and there is no smoke out the back end so not burning it. any ides? I've just had a new air con compressor fitted and coupling and belt but other than that ive had no other dramas.

Maybe they didn't put enough oil when in service. Other than that, every internal combustion engine is burning oil, some more some less. Those car that you see on the road blowing excessive blue smoke out of the rear end, their drivers are topping up at rate of 1L or more, every week or 2.

Check the rear view mirror at night against the headlight of the cars behind you.
