Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • White R36 Wagon

    Hi all,

Been around here for a while, having had a few turbo 4's over the years ('98 WRX, '06 RS225 Cup, and lastly the '06 MK5 Turbo Jetta)...

Melbourne based until moving up to Sydney in June last year - now enjoying living by the coast out in Malabar. Picked up my 36 a few months ago after searching for a Grey or White wagon, always preferred the shape over the sedan. Haven't really had the urge (or time) to do any mods as yet...except for throwing in a K&N panel filter recently.
Car comes with a few options; sunroof, satnav, reverse camera & powered tailgate. Overall very impressed with it and happy to be back in something with awd grip...and of course the sound. This would have to be the first car i haven't wanted to modify the exhaust from the moment I drove it away.

Plans for the future? A nice set of 19's, maybe some OEM Savanna's for something different. And if i can do so without compromising the ride, would like it sitting about 20-30mm lower. Brushed aluminium mirror caps if they exist. Found a few holes in the front grille once i had removed the black plate holder, debating about whether to leave as is, get Euro plates or change grille.

Only problem I have is not being able connect any phone to the Bluetooth - the steering wheel controls won't enable me to press OK when trying to pair...the previous owner said i may need someone who can use vag-com to change this, might be one for the tech section.

A few shots from the drive down from QLD, the advantages of finally having a car with satnav? You see those roads that branch off the highway for a 'detour'...a good way to get to know the new wheels. Biggest surprise initially was selecting S mode to overtake...couldn't believe the response.

    And a few more...

    Cheers,
    Anthony

Nice purchase. Welcome to the forum Anthony.
I have always liked the look of the Candy White in the Passat R36, she stands out a fair bit. In regards to coilovers I'm pretty sure there was a set of KW V3's for the Passat in the parts section not too long ago. Check it out, could have yourself a bargain.

So are you just planning to do wheels, suspension and intake? FYI, there is a RUF supercharger kit being developed at the moment for R36's. Shoot me a PM if you want further information...

Might also be worth jumping on the Gen 4 Haldex controller in the parts section
