Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Hey hey

Hey guys, owner of a B5.5 V6 Passat checking in.
Had it about 18 months so far, haven't really done much with it, but desperately need to buy new tyres so I'm thinking of taking the opportunity to just buy some 19" wheels (currently have 17" Capezio wheels). So yeah, just been searching around these forums for some information.

I'm gonna need 225/35/19 or 235/35/19, so if anyone has used that setup on a B5.5 passat, I'd love to know how the ride quality was compared to stock

Guess I'll have to lower it as well, but really don't want to spend too much. Spoke to Advantage Suspension who quoted me $550 for a 1.5" drop on new springs, but looking at DIY guides so I can save a few hundred bucks. Seems, pretty hard though, as I've never worked on a car before

Anyone done it before? Reckon it's too big of a job for a newbie?

Anyway, see ya round the forum,

    Sam
