Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi been here before when I purchased my first VW a MK5 Golf when first released. Old user name lost in the system, had several cars since then MK 5 GTI , still have caddys, polos at work etc. I drive a Golf R took delivery day before release. Looking on VW Watercooled today as my wife has a new Alltrack traded a 2011 Passat wagon and I picked up a Hayman Reese towbar for it. I was interested to see how it fitted up, had the VW bar on the Pasatt and did not think it would look good on the Alltrack bumper. Think I have made the write decision as a member here has posted a picture or his install and it looks great. Reason for the Alltrack upgrade love the 4 motion in the R and need the extra height as we will be towing a 1962 Sunliner van around, first trip in two weeks to Canberra for the Museum of the Long Weekend a get together for all the vintage Caravaners. Dont have a old VW to toe her but do have old minis mini k, mk1 cooper s and a Delux but they are not up to towing of course.
    Thats all for now John
