  • Hi

    Hi everyone,

My name is Kel, I'm from Sydney.

I've currently got a 2003 Golf IV 2.0 Sport and I'm looking at upgrading to a Golf VI 118 TSI.

Looking forward to learning more about these cars and getting to know everyone

      Welcome Kel!

Before you jump into 118TSI ownership, just make sure you've read up on the issues some owners have experienced with the 118 engine (although you should be fine if you get a car built after the 24S4 campaign was introduced in 2010), and also the 7-speed DSG should you be considering that option. Check out these threads:

Having said that, the 118 is still a great car, especially in 2012+ manual guise. And the 77TSI, 90TSI and 103TDI are all corkers too.

And make sure you test drive the Skoda Fabia RS - and the 118TSI Octavia - and the 125TDi Octavia RS - great savings to be had on SKODA right now - I tried both Golf and Polo and ended up with a SKODA and have never been happier...you might be pleasantly surprised.

The trim level tends to be a little less plush - but bang for buck is a much better equation. I saved nearly 8 grand on the price of a Polo GTI against a near identical Fabia RS. Goes hard and a dream to own.

        Just try

I'll be sure to do some reading before I lay down any cash.
