Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New guy from Melb with a Golf mk4

    Hello to everyone,

Im another new guy from Melb with a Mk4 Golf. This site used to pop up a lot when when doing a non model specific search. I would have a bit of a read then move on as at the time I didnt own a VW.

At the start of the year a family member offered the golf to me. She bought it when it was two years old and eveything up until then had been fine.

However it didnt take me long to realise the service centre had only done the minimum. Since then I have done various misc stuff such as brakes etc. Also the pressure plate cracked in half, so out came the clutch.

I do all work myself and have been since I started off on my Suzuki RGV back when I was 17 (20 odd years ago).

Apart from the Golf, another family member bought a Skoda Octavia with a 7spd DSG (dq 200).

    Anyway, thats my quick intro.

    Thanks,

    Jamie
