  • QLD Potential Yeti buyer worried about dsg problem and skoda recall

    Hi,
Was looking at buying a 103TDI DSG automatic Yeti until a friend pointed out that VW and SKODA had major problem and recalls of their car fitted with dsg gearbox.
Did a search and it doesn't look good at all

Does anybody know if the yeti 2013 are involved in the recall as they have same engine as Prestige Wagon?

Has anyone in Australia had problem with SKODA Yeti from 2012 model?

    Regards
    Yowie

103tdi is the 6 speed wet clutch DSG.

All the current issues are the 1.4 twincharger (oil burner) & the 7 speed dry clutch DSG.

The 125TDI did have some issues with injector wiring looms but that appears to have been addressed in production. 103 wasn't afflicted (as much). There's a thread or two on this forum if you wish to read further.

    Your friend is somewhat mis-informed.

PS: what is a Prestige Wagon?

Sorry I meant the Splendid Wagon not Prestige....

Regarding the dsg 6 speed, I read the following on Wikipedia:"
Typical issues associated with 6-speed DSG include abnormal noise and inability to change gear; while issues associated with 7-speed DSG include abnormal noise, excessive shift shock, abnormal increase in engine RPM, flashing gear indicator on the dashboard as well as inability to shift to even-numbered gears."

Are all the owners of Skoda Yeti 103TDI on this forum happy with their cars until now?

Thanking you all for your time

That was only in PD unit injector and only in some, all current TDIs are Common rail injectors and there aren't any reported issues.

Yowie, your auto-correct must be doing weird things as I don't know what a "Splendid" wagon is either. Not to worry.

I'd recomend you have a browse through the Yeti area & also read the extensive thread about the recent VW issues in the newspaper. The consensus is that the 6sp DSG is reliable & the 103tdi is also reliable. It's a fairly common engine/trans combo throughout the VW group of cars - found in Passat, Golf, Superb, Tiguan, Octavia & others.

Also, have a look at the UK forum BriSkoda. Skoda has a much bigger market penetration there - lots more info from Yeti owners.

Love my 103tdi dsg yeti. Haven't had it for a long time but it's over a year old and drives like a new car
