Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • DSG Gearbox Oil change

    Hello,

I have just bought a 2010 Transporter with a 7 spd DSG gearbox so I though I would get the drum on how to do things with this vehicle at this web site and of course anything I learn I will pass on as I go.

At the moment I am wanting to change the transmission fluid and I'd love to know the best way to do it. If anyone out there knows something about this I'd love to hear it.

Welcome...the 7speed in T5 is a wet clutch like the 6 speed in golfs etc....you need a special adapter for the base of the gearbox and a filler tool as you have to pump the oil in from below and drain off the excess with the engine running at a set gearbox temp that a VCDS tester is needed for ..VDUB..

You might benefit from purchasing a few hours access to this site and printing off the official technical guides:
