Hi all. Have been having a problem with my gearbox. Gear shifting was heavy. Got the bushings in the linkage replaced recently and thought that would fix it. No such luck. I recently lost my reverse gear. Dropped my car into the Volkswagen dealership today. They got back saying there is a problem with my pedal box and clutch cable. $400 for parts- not too bad, but $700 for labour for 4 hrs work! I can't justify spending this on a 1999 car. I would however, like to pick up the parts and get someone to put them in for me for hopefully cheaper. I am just wondering, the clutch seems to be working fine, so is there any point replacing that too? Should the pedal box and cable suffice? All help appreciated. Thanks.
