  • NSW 2009 Golf 2.0 TDI - Engine startup problems

    Hi all
I have been plagued by engine start up problems for the last two years. It happens at random times, but always first thing in the morning when it does. I turn the ignition on, and it will crank for 20 to 30 seconds, and only with a constant pumping of the accelerator would it eventually start. I have had a new starter motor put in, battery and heat sensors replaced under warranty, but still no resolution. The dealer keeps saying that their computers cant pick anything up. Keep saying that I need to leave the car with them over night, but this doesnt work, since it probably wont happen again for a while. Has someone come across this issue before? really appreciate any suggestions

yep...seen the lid of the fuel filter do this...the fuel filter housing has a lid with the 4 fuel hoses on and none return valves built in..replaced 2 for this fault in the past...basically the fuel drains back to the tank over night so you have a long crank to draw it back in the morning.. also get a sample from the bottom of the fuel tank as ive seen algee build up also clogging the system.. real pain to get rid of...VDUB...
