Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

    From Nissan to VW

    Hi everyone,
    I've just come from beloved Nissan Stagea and am looking to move into a Passat (R36 or V6 FSI Highline) and later add a Golf R for my partner. Still trying to find the right one to buy though.
    I've been using this site for research as a consumer of info and have come across some great info, so thanks to everyone already. Hopefully I can contribute in the future, but for the time being I think I'll be throwing a few questions out there (after I use the search function ).

          Thanks folks. I'm trying to get copies of the brochures for each model year to compare the differences. I know some features (like adaptive cruise and chassis control) were only available in later years.
          The V6 FSI Highline (wagon) is also of interest, but I'd be after one with the Sport Pack and I'm just not seeing many of these available.

              I never got hassled. The Stagea was also somewhat of a sleeper; very understated for it's level of performance, a lot like the Passat.
              One of the main reasons for leaving Japanese imports behind (as much as I love some of the vehicles) is my loss of faith in the odometer readings and service records. I have much more faith in locally purchased vehicles, at least I can research and confirm the service records and correlate that with the odometer reading.

                The V6 FSI highline shares the same engine as the Passat R36, nothing engine or drivetrain wise is different. R36 is just a 'sports' edition, still looks the par over ordinary passats, but the price is always there.

                  It's really the seats of the Sport pack that I'm after. Unfortunately, I have a bad back but the sports seat make a big difference to my comfort level.
