Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Howdy Folks!

    Howdy Folks,

My names Pete and I live on the Sunny Coast of QLD.

Some may know me as MRT from VWGolf.net.au and MRTIIDA from others.

I am a massive car fanatic and mainly a massive Volkswagen Group enthusiast. I have held a position working firstly on Audi's & then Skoda's. I have had the awesome privilege of driving some amazing cars from the VW Group and more. I have done Pre-Deilvery, Detailing as well as Parts and Genuine Accessories. I love working, driving, maintaining and being around cars in general!

I also have spent much of this time in a family run Autobarn as well as an electronics shop. I begun to know parts, electricals etc pretty well from a young age.

Currently I own a 2009 Nissan Tiida ST Sedan with the only option being a sunroof. I have inherited the vehicle from my Great Aunt who over the space of 4 years, done only 3,500kms. It currently lives in a shed in central NSW collecting dust and hasn't been driven for nearly a year as I just haven't been able to get down there and pick it up. Due to illness, I have received the car. Sadly though it is an Auto. I have been planning mods for the Tiida though, very open to suggestions but I don't know how much the little MR18 will be able to take. So I have decided that car will be sold very soon and I will be moving onto a Jetta 2.0T, one of my dream cars.

Anyway on to the current VW Group cars. The first is a 2011 Audi A3 1.6TDI. Its a stunning car which share with my Mum, I bought into it with her and pay for servicing and maintenance. Its a fully optioned beast, and the only modification so far is a ECU Reflash. Currently we achieve a average of 5.1L per 100kms average around town and a bit of highway driving while having awesome performance. ****load's of torque on tap is just great and I love the quality, classiness in the way it does it's business. Very soon I will be paying Mum's side of the car out and having the car myself. Considering on a few mods here and there but might go down the bagged side of things. Still unsure at this time but I will find out soon. I will be posting a thread here hopefully soon. We are also looking at upgrading that car to a new 8V A3 like pictured in 1.8TFSI Ambition form. Here's a pic:

I also drive a Skoda Octavia 90TSI Wagon (Old Man's work car) very often. Great car, very flexible engine and one of the best manual transmissions in the world. Its a amazing value for money car and has proven reliable doing nearly 40,000kms in a year over a mix of ****ty roads. Its a real surprising drivers car and has never let us down. Couldn't have hoped for a better cheap workhorse thats amazing to drive!

I also owned a 2004 Alfa Romeo for a brief few months. I loved the car from the first time I drove it. It just had soul! It was a stunning looked but sadly, it was plagued with electrical gremlins, gearbox issues and more problematic annoyances. The car had nearly cost me the purchase price in 3 months after I bought it and it wasn't in a good state really then, so it was time to go...

I will soon be getting myself probably into a Jetta 2.0T as my daily driver!

I also love karting and have done a bit of racing in a Excel Cup car that I helped a mate with.

I am as well one of the guys from a local FB page 'Brisbane Car Scene'. Drop us a like we can inform Brisbane/SEQ Queensland Car Enthusiasts of upcoming events and meets. So you will never miss the opportunity to go to these great events.

    Cheers and thanks for reading
