Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hi to everyone. I just bought a T5 and found this great forum. I own a 74 poptop Kombi which is resting in the shed waiting for a rebuild. I recently sold a T3 that served me well for a few years. i have been looking for a few months for a second hand van to replace the old T3 and have found that there is not much available in the Newcastle area. In moments of frustration I considered vitos and ford transits but finally located a silver 2004 T5 with full windows and camper bed fitout. It's a bit older than I wanted and at 170k km has more km than I would have liked but it seems to be in good nik and as I said there was not much to chose from.
So far I have updated the head unit to a double din JVC 7inch screen unit and reverse camera which was a pain to fit but works pretty good.

Good buy mate! Also don't worry about the kms, this is just run it period for these engines, I've seen them outlast 500+km with general routine maintenance. They are monsters. Goodluck
