Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT First Post - Looking to add a new VW to the garage

    Hi all,

I've always been a die hard Subaru fan, however since my fiancé purchased a 2010 118TSI DSG Golf, I've almost fallen in love with the quality of the VW... To the point where I'm now looking to put a second VW in the garage next year!

At the moment, I'm very interested in the Tiguan or possibly a Touareg (pending test drive).

I'm currently living in Canberra, ACT.

Quite interested in the 2014 Tiguan R Line at the moment (as presented at the American International Auto Show).

Just hoping that the R Line is indeed true and headed for Australia next year.

Would love to gear from members who have any more info about this, or about the Tiguan in general (155 TSI).

Oh, and coming from the Subaru tuning scene, I'm already aware (and very interested) in the ARP chips

    Cheers,
    Luke.

Welcome to the forum - always good to see another local around.

Can't help you specifically with the Tiguan R but can certainly vouch for the APR guys and what they make possible from the VW engines. I'd suggest talking with the guys at Canberra VW Centre in Belconnen - they've tuned a few VWs for me over the years and they're highly recommended if you want to chat about APR tuning options for the Tiguan.

Unless you're after a big capacity diesel or specifically want a large car then I'd recommend the Tiguan over the Touareg - the smaller Tiguan is a great little car and suits the 4 cyl TSI engines nicely, but the Touareg only works with a heap of torque behind it (i.e. V8 TDI or the old generation V10 TDI).

Not sure which dealer is more convenient for you but Reese at Slaven and Cal or Peter at Lennocks have all proven to be pretty good guys.
