Picked up my new car on 22 May 2013. What a great car to drive. Beautiful steering, clings to the road and brilliant economy so Iam (was) one happy dude.
After clicking over 1000 klms my great little machine dropped into what the service guy called "limp home" mode. That is the gear displayed D2 with asn alternating spanner logo on my digital display screen and the car wouldn't get out of 2nd gear.
It is still in the service department (5 days now) with what has been described as a "mechatronics" fault. Sure I have a replacement vehicle, but my confidence is shattered as this all happened with a brand new car in the same week as the recall on older models.
Not a good start after driving a Nissan Navara from new for 19 years without a hitch!!!

    Welcome!

Try not to be disheartened - hopefully your dealer figures it out and you can enjoy your car again soon. I bought my octavia at 90,000km old and I've put another 50,000km on it so far, and its nothing short of a brilliant vehicle IMO.

Its unfortunate, all car makes do have problems, but right now the VAG group is getting a lot of bad press, deserved or not. But don't let the current media hype fool you into thinking you've made a mistake

My Octy has had 3 issues in 5yrs/115,000km. Has cost about $1500 in unplanned maintenance which I think isn't too bad.

It's one of the few cars i've owned that hasn't made me bored after a few years.

I'm sure they will fix yours & after a month or two you'll have forgotten abaout it.
