  • b6 passat rear passenger electric window does not work

Hello, I have a 2008 Passat b6 rhd. The rear passenger window does not work from the door switch or the drivers switch nor in convenience mode. Oddly though if I disconnect and reconnect the wiring loom at the rear door pillar the window will work for a short period (1 to 2 minutes) from the rear door switch only. It will not do auto up and down, you have to hold the switch. It does not work from the drivers door switch or convenience mode. Has anyone any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem (same door). The VW mechanics told me the motor needs replacing (they just couldn't get one in time to do the job at the last service).

Hello Nicholas - excellent news. Did they happen to explain why it is the motor? did they say why the drivers switch does not control it? there must be some form of conroller in the motor. I assume to change the motor the inner door card needs to come off to release internal fixings?

just make sure the part numbers are correct if you are getting a scrap car unit...sometimes there are few different versions depending on the spec of car...VDUB...

OK, I have tracked down the replacement window motor with matching codes to existing. To change the motor does the inner panel have to come off, if so how do you release the window from the carrier, it looks like it is held in place with a roll pin, should I just knock this out with a punch? The top left of the inner panel feels like it is held on with something behind it, any ideas on how to release?
