Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • First Turbo Car :)

Hey guys! My name is Dennis I'm from Eastern Melbourne. I recently got myself a Audi A3 2.0TFSI Quattro. I'm quite happy with it but i kinda want more power. This is my first time trying to mod a car so I'm very noob ahha. I'm planning on getting a tune with revo and also a APR carbonio intake. What do you guys think?

Have you looked at all the tuning alternatives in Melbourne? There's plenty of others.

Same for the intake. My preference is the Volant from Tarmac Engineering. Pretty sure that dubaddiction would have something for you too.

    Gavin

    Welcome to the forum too.

Thanks Gavin. I have heard of APR, Revo and GIAC flashes. At first i was quiet interested in APR but its so expensive ahah. So i did some research and found Audvolks. I have heard they have really good service. I want to be able to do everything under the one roof, eg servicing the car, Tune, upgrading parts. I also live in Springvale so Audvolks isn't to far for me. I know Dubaddiction is in springvale somewhere, Do they also service cars?

Call Tim and check but I don't think he does servicing. I wouldn't commit to having everything done at the same place. That could cost more, I would at least do the ring around, it could save you money in the long run.

You'll never hear me make any comments about APR except the price. The products are great but I think you can get better value elsewhere.

I don't see the switching to use different fuel a massive benefit for the extra money. Even during driving in the most remote parts of Australia, it's not often that you can't get 98.

On standard power it's not like you turned it into Hyundai Excell performance for your granny to drive.

The immobilising feature is largely redundant in my eyes, you'd have to set it everytime you park. Most high end cars getting stolen these days would have to be done with the keys. So you might prevent that but the thieves might come back and politely ask why it won't work??

Certainly, fitting an intake isn't a tough DIY, even if you have to buy a couple of tools.

Whoever you go to, should check out the DV and PCV system before applying a tune, as they aren't especially reliable on a lot of 2 litre turbo motors. Increased boost always makes the problem worse.
