Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi All,

this is the first time I have ever posted on a forum!

After driving a much loved old volvo for 17 years, I have to get a new car and I am fallen in love with the Golf, but reading through some of the forums here I am beginning to wonder if anyone actually likes the car.

    Thanks

    Welcome to VWW.

We're all fans, the forums obviously will also contain a lot of the problems that crop up.. but the vast majority are happy owners/drivers.

Thanks to all for replying. I have been doing a bit of research and the DSG transmission seems to be an issue, and the news article today about the accident resulting in the death of the VW golf driver is of concern. I have driven the Golf 7 and I found it a beautiful car to drive, but is it worth the risk?

the car in the accident was petrol and manual from what i heard.. not DSG. If you went on any forum for any make/brand they would also have as many issues... its usually only the cars thst have issues you hear about.. the ones with not one warranty claim just dont even get noticed..dont worry..the golf 7 is a great drive...
