g'day
2010 T5 132 diesel Multivan - city dweller & commuter, currently averaging 25k country km's p/yr in addition to city driving.
Am driving my 15th VW (8th bus), although this is the first one I have owned that is water cooled, has power steering, has air conditioning, is an automatic, has some REAL grunt & fuel efficiency !!
I have joined up this forum in an attempt to resolve my current pet peeve - T5 headlights
The T5 headlight alignment has a variable low beam that cannot adjust high enough to meet the high beam leaving a very large black line dancing around the tree's immediately in my line of sight. Not an issue on a flat road - drives me nuts on hilly terrain!
Submitted this back to dealer as a warranty issue and was told "cannot be modified, even by VW Australia" , dealer had also had a new vehicle order cancelled (not by me) because of this same issue. According to dealer it is not the alignment of the lamp but the shape of the housing that prevents the high & low beam from meeting to form a single beam of light.
So I want to fill in the black line with ........... driving lights? probably, but how to mount driving lights with so much plastic on the front of the car??? - BTW car will be traded for new model in March 2014 - new vehicle will have a nudge bar from ECB (this model as it does not diminish under car clearance) and hopefully the newer headlights (the ones with day running lights) will have this problem resolved.
Between now and March 2014 I will put another 10k Km's on the car on country roads, so would like some sort of short term solution.
The only short term solution I can think of is to mount some lights on a roof rack, will probably work ok and will prevent me from any of the remaining under cover car parks that I could squeeze into without a roof rack. I cannot find a reasonable mounting solution inside of the grill.
Has anyone here found a way to adjust the existing light alignment ?
any help appreciated.
