Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Non Aus Chillout and his Beetle (lots of pics!)

    Hi All,

My name is Chillout, and I live in the Netherlands, driving a black VW Beetle Sport 1.4TSI(160).
I did a couple of mods to her, here's a list (which will probly grow a bit longer )

    - 17" Porsche Fuchs rims
    - Eibach Sports lowering springs ~40mm
    - TMC Motorsports tuningbox
    - Large k&n airfilter+custom airbox
    - Emptied pre-cat
    - O2 sensor spacer to avoid cat-related errors.
    - a lot of VCDS changes (XDS on, lock-beep, brake assist, welcome message)
    - wheel spacers, the track is widened by 4 cm.
    - Custom made Porsche-style dual exhaust
    - Yellow laminated fogs
    - Red calipers
    - Powerflex engine mount insert
    - VW Racing shortshift kit
    - Fuzzy dice
    - Darth Vader cigarette lighter

    Planned mods:
    - USA keyfob (with a panic button, because I think it's cool)
    - Back-up camera (in the process of installing it)
    - ESP-disable button
    - finalise the custom made airbox

    Some pictures:

    The exhaust being fitted:

    And the result:

Temporary "hot air intake" until the custom airbox is completely done:

The ride herself, a bit dirty when taking the pics

And the most important mod of all:

In the process of finishing my self-made ram intake... all that's needed is the lid + connection to the bumper so it's sealed off from hot air.
