  • QLD Hey Everyone

Hey guys and girls. Just signed up as ill be looking to be getting myself into a VW hopefully within a year or so. Most likely an R36 wagon if i can find the right one. Will have a read on here about everything as i don't want to ask questions which have already been answered.
But first just a quick intro on me.
Names Chris and im from Brisbane (newly moved here for work),originallyfrom Sydney and atm i currently drive a 2008 Mazda 3 MPS. I came over from ozmpsclub forum. I think theres a few on here who had made the switch.
Am looking at selling the Mazda as ill be needing a larger family car and something with alot more boot space.
Hope you guys don't mind me putting up pics of my ride atm.

    Cheers guys
    Chris

Well here she is. It's a 2008 model mazda 3 mps. Bought it brand new Nov '08.

The day I picked her up. 25km on the clock when I got it home. Had it dynoed when it was stock at it pshed out 167 fwkw. Havent had it dynoed since my mods.

First modification I done was a GFB Hybrid 50/50 BOV. Had it running at 50/50 for about 2months then switched it to full recirc as i was backfiring quite abit. Too much wank factor as well.
Also installed a Cpe Cold Air Intake and Cobb turbo inlet hose which sounded like a jet plane when u gave it some. Have since had it all replaced as when Sydney had the minor flooding last year I went through a puddle and almost got hydrolocked.

Next on the mod list was a TRZ Rear Engine Mount to get better power to the ground (not sure on the stiffness but it is a race spec mount) Vibes at the time were crazy. Also installed a short shift plate, lightened shifter weight, solid shifter bushings and heavier gear knob for better shifting.
Also mounted a dashhawk to keep track of everything from rpm, knock, intake temps, boost temps, psi, etc

I then got new rims (Fox Racing R6 18x8 +45 offset) with Kumho KU36 tyres 235/40/18, installed Cobb springs, Front DBA street series slotted rotors and Hawk HPS pads, Corksport 3” cat back exhaust, Eyelids, Angel Eyes, and Front mount intercooler all painted black.

I then installed a GT Spec mid chassis brace and Hotchkis front and rear 32mm sway bars.

Next I removed the cold air intake and installed Corksport’s short ram intake and metal turbo inlet pipe (Sound is a lot louder now), I also replaced the Cobb Springs and installed a set of Mazdaspeed coilovers set up for track use, also got the cat back redone, straight 3” piping with a magnaflow muffler at the back, and installed a Cpe triple gauge pod with prosport boost gauge (white during the day and amber at night when lights are switched on, and also installed the Hypertech tune and removed the 1st and 2nd gear restrictions.

Finally the last thing and how it sits now I got rid of the coilovers and installed Bilstein B8 shocks and mated them with H&R Springs, Front DBA 4000 T3 rotors with remsa pads on both front and back, an EZE Lip (Basically a foam moulding you stick on with double sided tape), and got a set of stock MPS 6 rims with Kumho KU31 225/40/18 Tyres and had them powdercated gloss black.

Next to go in which I have sitting at home is Muteki lug nuts and a Cobb electronic boost control solenoid to replace the crappy plastic stock piece.
Not going to be doing anything else to it as ill be parting out most likely and returning it back to stock to sell it.

Here are some vids of the exhaust, intake a bov sounds.

Thanks Tuann.. I havent had single problem with it since ive owned it but its time i need something bigger and more family orientated.

Well an update with my search. I found a couple that look in decent condition. 1 from a dealer and 2 private sales(1 in qld and 1 in nsw) the 2 in qld are both the blue colour and the nsw one is the charcoal. All 2009 models and all ahve roughly the same amount of kms. Range from between 80000-90000 km. Is there anything i should watch out for in terms of things that could go wrong or just in general??
      thanks guys

Does anyone know of any places in Brisbane that do exhausts, custom ones also and is there anything i can do to get more of that raspy note without changing the whole exhaust system???

I'd get some decent coilovers or H&R springs in there first before moving onto the sound

Performance Pipes and Scattered Racing - Home

Northside definitely Rob Bliss Exhausts at Geebung. He does great work from what I've read and heard from others. May I recommend you taking a look at the R36 section of this forum it's huge and full of great information.

Fabulous fabrications or CES exhaust too. Mike @ Prestige & Performance seems to be highly spoken about to on the forums he does custom fabrications.
