  • Golf MK5 R32 Newbie Owner

Hi fellow v'dubbers - I'm the proud new owner of a blue 2008 MK5 R32 - picked up on Friday and up to tank of petrol number 2 already.

Previous car was a Toyota Hybrid so this is a big change for me - I'm starting to like the noise and power behind this one.

I love the car - have done a few practice runs and let my partner in crime, who's already posted on here on my behalf, take it for a spin or two.

I'm getting to know the technical stuff - but be patient with me as I'm a complete newbie when cars are concerned!

Hi guys - Steve good guess there! Chrismaz is the partner in crime and hes pretty happy with my car choice - and planning upgrades to it already as you can see

Robbie I am thinking of doing a few things to the car to start with - firstly is the Milltek exhaust and then probably small things that are less expensive!

It has new tyres (Dec 12) but they are cheapish Rotalla so I'm researching replacements when they get worn down (not that I've done any reckless driving or anything )

I'm also trying to justify the slimline personalised numberplates - $550 for those.

I know it has probably been posted elsewhere but what sort of cost is the Milltek exhaust and what are the benefits? This thing already sounds pretty good!

I think Chrismaz found the Milltek for about $600-$700 and I'm not sure of the benefits yet, it sounds more 'roary'. I quite like the noise it already makes so I might skip the exhaust for the SatNav system that came as an option - about $900 online, which is cheaper than anywhere else I've seen it.

Benefits are a slightly better breathing engine. Maybe 2-6HP tops. Slightly deeper exhaust note and considerably louder. Very little low rpm drone though. And hey... what car doesn't need more loud and more low?

The car does need new decent rubber on it. Ku31's at least. Conti's preferably. And the RNS510 should definitely be the first mod.
