Just bought a 118tsi Tiguan. What version of RNS510 would you guys recommend to replace the original RCD310?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If you don't care about have the very latest revision (no massive differences besides boot up and directory browsing speed) as long as it's at least a D version (H would be better) (last letter in the part number) you might save a couple hundred $ on Ebay from Europe. Stay away from Asian fakes (which are a lot cheaper so easy to spot). $900-$1200 is the expected range. Firmware and maps are available to download.Last edited by Ryan_R; 29-04-2013, 01:07 PM.

Personally I would buy an RCD 510 and something like a TOMTOM for navigation if thats what you are buying it for.
The VW maps would be far and away the worst maps I have ever used, bar none Even an $89 Navig8r leaves them for dead.
I only have one cos it was in the car I bought and had I known I would have had it taken out and saved $3000.2021 Kamiq LE 110 , Moon White, BV cameras F & B
