Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD New R36 wagon owner - my soul moves again!

I have recently purchased a R36 wagon. I researched using forums such as this one prior to purchase to ensure I knew what I was getting into and in particular to find a recommended service centre on the Gold Coast (VAG at Southport has its first booking from me for preventative maintenance already).

The last car I enjoyed was a XR6 Turbo (it had a Nizpro stage 1 tune and was great for overtaking road trains) back when the Northern Territory had open speed limits and I was broken when someone stole it. A couple of "sensible" cars I've had since then and now I'm back into a car that is a pleasure to drive.

With a couple of young kids and dogs I have gone for the mature approach of a wagon (and there won't be any mods done) but everything else about the car is nice and juvenile and responsive. I hope the golf drivers aren't too critical of lardy back-ended passat wagon but a bit of rivalry is always good.

I look forward to using this forum and thanks for the info I've used so far prior to purchasing my car.

    Welcome to the forums mate.
Hope we can get you out to some of our events so we can see the beast in person.

The R36 is a fan favourite, you wont have any complaints from us.
