  • Dealer demo Fabia Monte Carlo - incorrect fuel?

    Hi all,

Not a VW or Skoda owner yet, but looking to purchase a small reliable economical car. If the following is better in a forum rather than first post let me know.

Our local dealer has a Fabia Monte Carlo demonstrator available for sale which we took for a test drive a few days ago. It has just over 1000km on the clock.

It was very low on fuel so my wife took it back to the dealership and the salesperson put standard 91 RON unleaded into it.

According to the brochure it uses 95 RON, and the filler cap has 98(95) on it.

A couple of questions for the knowledgeable community:

    1. Is it worth even considering this car now given 1000km with 91 RON (and people testing it's performance during test drives)?

    2. Or maybe use that as a bargaining point to try and get a good deal? Any potential issues further down the track?

My stupid dealer gave me a free tank of fuel for the Octy after stuffing me around - 54L of 91RON. Killed the performance dead.

I don't think there will be any damage done as the ECU will have wound back timing & decreased boost. I'd use it as a bargaining point. 1000km is only ~75L of fuel - even thrashing the vehicle.
