Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • just bought 1976 passat coupe TS

    hi everyone

just acquired the above in white, it has a black interior redone 'original seats' and is reasonably tidy. am located in north sydney and am new to early water called VW's in fact its my first VW. Have had mainly italian stuff before and always liked the look of an early Passat. Foolishly I assumed that being German and the people's car I would find parts plentiful and a rubbery gear lever and clutch failing to disengage an easy fix. After ringing round I now no better. So Help! Any got a good source for the parts I may need. Can't go into too much detail as the car is still 100k south of Sydney where I decided to bail out of my trip from collecting it in country victoria. It went great loves the freeway - has an unoriginal weber carb, but the gbx was hard work from the moment I picked it up. after a couple of fuel stops and 'moments' where I struggled to down change and re-engage any gear I decided a peak hour return back into Sydney may not be such a smart move. In the long term I'd like to get car as close to original as possible - anyone got a decent dash! Correct seats, carbie, airflilter. Will post pics when I retrieve it next week.

    Happy driving
