I am in adelaide and have owned a few Golfs and currently a 99 Ibiza Cupra which I now have to sell due to family commitments, I imported a Mk2 1988 Golf 3 door 16V back in 1996 and drove that for about 10 years and maintained myself, never had any specific issues with it other than a fuel pump relay and front engine mount, I later discovered the ongoing Golf 3,4 models went downhill with regards to engineering and driveability although I quite like the Ibiza except for the Golf/Polo 3 heritage with sloppy gear linkage and heavy flywheel,
Years ago I ran a small motor rebuilding business part time, dealing mainly with Cosworth Ford engines, have competed in gravel and tarmac special stage rallies in Ford based cars.
