  • New to VW no stranger to car forums...

    Hello there guys and girls...

So my missus purchased herself a 2012 Red polo Gti , knowing how much info there is to be found on forums i decided to join and do some research.

I myself em no stranger to car forums, was a very active member on Pulsar Group of Australia. I completely rebuilt my 95 SSS from the ground up.

Anyway looking forward to getting my VW knowledge happening

    Andrew

Yes i think wheels are on the shopping list.. But what i have been worry about is warranty ,what i can and cant get away with. I have heard of flashing the comp like a bluefin.

Id really like to drop it an inch or 2 but once again never owning a new car im nerves about what i might void.

        Any suggestions?

See how much oil it drinks in the 1st 1000kms. If the oil level is stable, go nuts.
Springs / shocks can be changed without too many issues, if it had a major drama you could put it back to stock. same with wheels.

IMO, if you can, stay away from the dealerships.

I think if you ask for an extended warranty PDS it contains a section about modifications. Not exactly the same but a pretty good guide.

If you modify the car performance/handling and the radio dies, they're going to look after you since there's no relation - draw your own conclusions on the other side of the coin

There are a lot of Stage 1+ owners out there and I haven't heard any horror stories here. I've got APR and have had the DSG clutch pack and mechatronics replaced under warranty (I turn off the tune when visiting the dealer as a precaution but I'm sure they could tell if they wanted to check).

Its funny you say that.. it drank a crap load of oil in the first 1000km and have only had to top it up once since then (Not sure how many kms are on it now)

Ive seen a thread on this issue floating around so im going to have a look into the whole issue with this.
