Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD New Passat AllTrack on the way!! Hopefully by July!!

    Hey guys,

I will be a VW driver soon like you!

Ordered a Passat AllTrack early Feb. By the sounds of the other guys on this forum, I may not get delivery until early July

The dealership tells me it is a special order because of the options I went for. It was hard to say no but I got a good price! Don't tell me if I didn't though

Around 62K in the end with every option except Chassis control and includes tow bar and Pearl Black. No luxury car tax either because the threshold is $75,375 for fuel efficient cars under 7L/100km

Bit of an upgrade coming from a 2007 Hiace. The AllTrack has heaps of room in the back with seats folded down. Enough room for my IT gear anyway. Speaking of the Hiace, it's on Carsales, let me know if your interested

I found this site because it practically came up in almost every Google search when I was researching the brand.

    See you around the forums,

    James

              Finally!

Mr VW calls me on Friday and he tells me the car will be ready to pick up on Wednesday arvo!

Only took 5 and a half months!

              Will put some pics up.

BTW has anyone looked into getting those plastic wheel arch surrounds sprayed?

I have seen some from overseas that have been colour-matched so it can be done.
The problems may arise if they use the dimpled plastic rather than the smooth plastic as it is hard to get the paint to stick evenly so it will have to be sanded back which costs $$ which them makes this project unviable to many.

Cheers mate, that's exactly what a painter told me. Something about the metallic standing out too much...

From what I saw at the dealer it is not dimpled plastic but when I mentioned the possibility of doing it, he went on about voiding paint warranty. Don't see how.

I reckon it would look good, almost like a small flare in the guard. I will have another look on the net and see if I can find one.

The other issue is that if you try to match it to the body colour it may not work as the colour will look slightly (still noticably) different on metal body panels as it does on plastic body mouldings.
