After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • NSW Newbie looking to buy first SUV - VW Tiguan ! Few questions please.

    hi all

we are looking around to buy a new SUV for my wife in the coming months and a colleague at work as the Tiguan.

Really like the build quality and what the car offers within its price bracket.

I am hoping to get answers here on VWW on few things.

    1. Is $40k (ish) achievable for a new 132TSI Pacific DGS with leather and satnav or would I be insulting the sales person?

    2. If above is silly, is it worth just getting the car with leather and simply buy the RNS510 with RVC from ebay (they can be had for around $1100 all up) and then install myself? Is it just too much hassle?

    3. Does anyone here have the Tiguan and twins by any chance? Just trying to find out which twin pram they have that fits in!

    many thanks in advance!

If I dont get any answers here, I might have to re-post in the Tiguan section so apologies to the admins in advance.

    Hi Omarkoman.
Will try to answer some of your questions. I'm from SA which doesn't have the sharpest pricing and in Dec I got the 132 Pacific with the regular slush box and leather for about 41K from memory. Not a huge discount but I'm sure if you haggle you could do better. I would recommend getting the RNS510 afterwards - installation would only cost about $150 or so if you can't do it yourself (some reprogramming may be required)... you could buy from ebay as you say or some of the distributors in the sponsors section. Now someone can correct me if I am wrong, but does the RNS510 from "factory" come with a RVC which is installed by the dealership? Even if you added a RVC to the RNS510 you would be looking at <$2K installed so much less than the cost of it as an option.

You can move the rear seat forward to fit a bigger pram ... However, we only put a Maclaren stroller so I imagine most prams would be a tight fit but could work on an angle with the seats forward one or two notches.

thank you so much for the reply. From the Tiguan thread, I can see that VW are doing now deals on 132TSI DSG for as low as $35k driveaway with even some accessories. Thats is great.

Leather costs $2000ish so that brings the price to $37k and VW charge $4300 for the RNS510 which means $41.5k ish all up. If I could get the price to $40k, I would happily buy from the dealer as its all covered under one warranty.

I also wonder what corporate discounts they offer but will need to investigate this at some stage when we are ready to buy.

re: pram, we found a twin pram that fits, unfortunately, its expensive ! $1.6k with car seat adapters and bassinets. ouch

You should look at the Mazda CX5,Honda CRV,and Tiyota RAV as well, just to compare.

thanks ... Rav and CRV, underpowered and we dont really like the interior.

the new 2013 132kW CX5 is nice but bit pricey for what it is. I'd rather have Euro Tiguan if Im spending $40k+
