  • Tiguan 2012 - Transmission Issue

    Hi guys,

    I own a 2012 Tiguan 132Kw , Auto 6 Speed.

I am sick and tired of the transmission issue, and was wanting to know if anyone in Sydney, has had any luck getting the Transmission Control Module ( TCM ) udpated, and fixed ?

    Please help !

TCM? Is that the same as "mechatronic unit"?

You may have more luck posting your issue in the Tiguan section as this is really for introductions.

6 speed auto is not DSG so doesn't have a mechatronics, it's got a valve body. The Tiguan 6 speed auto is fully auto (old school).

If you are meaning about how the gears change and changing to early ie, 6th gear at 60 kph sitting the RPM at 1000 rpm then go to your dealer, there is a software update now for this matter. I've done a few now and had no one come back. Appears after the update to take a while to change how the gearbox runs but does make a difference. Remember this is for the 6 speed AUTO only, not DSG or 7 speed.

        Hope this helps.

The 2012 Tiguan 6 speed auto is NOT a DSG? Thought all the newer VW automatic gearboxes were DSG.

as you said its auto... dsg is not auto... dsg is a twin clutch gearbox. 6 speed is a wet clutch and 7 speed is a dry clutch. so u have 6 speed auto (old school) and 6 speed DSG and 7 speed DSG. 3 different boxes. the new tiguan has either 6 speed auto or 7 speed DSG.....
