Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi all

new member, as first time owner of a european car!
very excited to be picking up my new DSG United Grey Golf R, with leather and black 18" Talladegas from Denlo VW on the 1.5% finance deal.

very excited. and looking forward to getting to know everyone and sharing our passion more!

    Ray.

Hi Ray! I was thinking about getting the financial deal that VW have but most dealerships say it's the Regular driveway price for the 1.5%. Did you pay full price or if you don't mind me asking how much you paid. Round figure is ok?

not at all, the listed price on my contract is $57,800 drive away DSG, leather, bonnet protector, painting of my original 18"s, and boot liner. I also got $4800 for my trade in of my beloved honda Jazz 2005 VTIS.
so a change over of $53,000.

No other dealer could get close to that, my fleet manager only got down to $54000 change over with only Leather included (dealt with Mario at Paul Wakeling fleet, lovely guy). I went to Mcgrath Liverpool and they said they could only do about $55-56000 change over (RRP drive away was $62XXX)

at financing $50,000 i think i'll only end up paying an extra $2700 at the end of 4years inclusive of all fees.

hope this helps, I pick it up next thursday.

That's really great. The best deal I could get was $53000 delivered. Stock model, non leather and no other extras with no trade-in. I think that's fairly reasonable?

          for manual or DSG?
sounds good especially if its DSG, which retails at about $59000 drive away RRP with no extras.

No I couldn't get that price and the 1.5% so we are using our own finance or trying to at least. The car is still subject to finance which we will know about sometime this week.

yea thats the thing, i decided to pay a little higher price, as finance saves heaps (additional $2700 over 4 years)
i thought it was better than pulling $50k out of my mortgage at 5.8%.

That's a fairly substantial saving. If only I could trade-in a decent car in. The reason I'm buying it is we need (more like want) another car in the family. Either way I'm sure you are excited and I know I am. I hope everything goes well!

Looks great Raymond. Congratulations on the purchase of what looks to be a perfectly ordered Golf R in the right combination.

Any plans to get some more power out of it?

Not at the moment, i want to just run in the engine first,
But also worried about warranty, as i do drive about 700km/week.
Its vital the car can last 4-5years atleast.

Also heard from camden gti that the dsg Rs are more prone tohave the gearbox fck up due to
                            Power increases/modifications
So thats why i think i may just keep it stock for now
