  • NSW New Golf R owner - Sydney

    Hi all,

Just purchased a new DSG Golf R 2013 w/ Leather + 19" wheels after comming from a Suzuki Swift (what a change ). Came across this site after my cousin who owns a GTi referred me to it.

Hope to contribute to the forums

      Thanks Adam,

Picking it up from dealer tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to 'break in' the car? Should i drive it like a sissy (low revs) for the first 1000kms or slowly and gradually build up the revs? etc...

I've heard varying reports but just about everyone says not to use cruise control (or run at fix rpm). And probably no redlining/full throttle runs if you can avoid it for the first 1500km.

              Hi Guys,

Picked up the car on Friday last week. Thanks for tips guys

Car was perfect, picked it up with 10kms on the clock and it now has over 500kms. Im still trying to get used to the DSG shifting up so early in D mode, so ive been driving it in manual (+/-) every so often. When driving from standstill it shifts into D2 then i put my foot down and it feels like the car is about to launch off (can feel boost comming in) and then suddely shifts into D3 and so forth lol guess i need to foot my foot down more!

I've been driving it 'normally' but every now and then i would give it a hit in manual and stretch out gears 2/3/4 to roughly about 4500/5000rpm. Love the pull

The dealership gave me just under a full tank of fuel - it lasted 350kms :/
