Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Newbie from Adelaide with a Skoda

    Hi

just bought a 77TSI DSG Skoda Yeti. Very impressed with the car so far. We'd been looking for a few years for a compact crossover. Had discounted the Yeti as bad value cf. the Tiguan, but the small motor puts this model in totally different category. E.g. up against the Dualis, with its heavy body and sluggish 2.0, the Yeti flies.

Well, I don't know whether I could, but my wife might! She is loving her new Yeti. We had a Nissan XTrail previously as our bigger car. The Yeti has replaced it. My wife finds it more nippy, responsive, and manouvreable. She says it holds the road much better and is far better moving off the mark. And she said yesterday it is better for driving through the hills, either up or down (which is amazing when one compares the bald stats of kWs and Nms). She doesn't mind that its driving position is not quite as elevated as the XTrail. The radio she finds better quality, and the interior is really well put together. After being critical of a couple of pics of it when I first mentioned the car to her, she quite likes it in the flesh (we have a metallic blue car). We were cross shopping it with any other compact crossover on the market. I had originally
short listed the Peugeot 4008 for her, but she drove the donor car (Mitsubishi ASX) as a hire car in Perth last year and didn't really like it, esp. the CVT box. She much prefers the DSG in the Yeti. The other attraction for her was the price: we swapped over a five and a half year old XTrail for a Yeti for $11,000, because we bought the base 77tsi DSG model and were prepared to take a MY12 car built in 11/2011 and unsold.
