NSW Newbie - Diesel Jetta Owner with R Lust

I've been reading these forums for years and thought it was time to join in.

I'm just a husband and dad driving a sensible(ish) MY08 diesel Jetta (DSG). Since first driving my mate's GTI a few years ago I've been trying to rationalise how swapping to a more expensive, smaller but much higher performance car is a good move for a family man...

Any help tricking myself is warmly appreciated
