Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

bought this bad boy a few weeks ago with a busted wheel bearing and some terrible wiring, touch unsure on where I would like to go with this as a project, I've been a fan of the mk1 for a while so it's nice to have my hands on one, I've replaced the wheel bearing, cleaned and fixed most of the wiring. think I'll have a crack at painting it myself, get the roof gutters and all the fiddly bits soda blasted and hand sand the rest, monster sized task but I've got the time.
currently looking for some parts for it, brake pads, coilovers and a few interior parts, are there any Australian websites who can help me out ? the other sites are all from Europe, of course, but postage is too expensive.
now I'm in the new corner, so the MK1 is referred to as a " rabbit " or is this only for the 2door versions or ??? I'm having trouble finding parts for just a MK1 Golf, anybody know if the 2 door parts are interchangeable ?
    thanks for your help

Hello Space! Welcome and congrats on your new purchase! I have just pulled a MK1 4 dr to bits so I do have a few bits and pieces lying around! PM me the bits you need and I will see if I have them Or you might like to swap me those chrome bumpers for something
A rabbit is the US name for a golf.

thanks eri_12, those bumpers are very nice think I'll hold on to them. I'm pretty good for spare parts, nothing appears to beyond repair, well yet, and the car luckily came complete, I wouldn't mind a new dash, mine is lucky to be together let alone still in the car, and possibly some rims. the parts list is slowly growing bigger, for the better half I can get the parts off the net, just didn't want to buy a heap of gear that was for the wrong model.

Welcome to the Tassie clan! And eri! Did you have a spare driver side quarter panel? Noticed you said you pulled your 4 door to bits
