Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD Hi all, new to the forum and VW here!

    Hi,
I and my wife are the proud owners of a 2007/2008 VW Golf Comfortline 1.9 TDI, with custom maroon leather throughout. I think that is a MK5? (Please correct if not )

I have generally owned European cars having owned an Alpha, a Volvo and some LandRovers. LR are still my playthings and I am an active LR club member both physically and through on line fora.

The Golf has been a great car to date but has just clocked over 50000km so I expect that it'll need some attention soon.

I am able to do most of my own work as I am an ex tradey turned engineer so that's cool too although neither my trade nor degree are really related to fixing cars!

Searching the google webs for a replacement battery for the Golf led me here and I am amazed at the amount of knowledge and enthusiasts around for these great cars. Like many uninformed, I thought VW enthusiasts were hippies who drove Kombies.

Anyhow I look forward to learning and contributing and maybe improving our ride for the future.

No pics of it as yet but it's stock standard and silver so many pics abound.

    Cheers

    Very helpful and informative bunch!

Enjoy posting and reading posts, and feel free to share in all sections of the forum, not just the Golf one of your model.
