Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • ACT G'day from the boonies just outside the ACT

    Hey Folks,

Just introducing me - I'm a Golf MkV TDi Sportsline owner (the last of the sportslines), who treats his wonderful ride with utter disrespect by living out in the boonies on some nasty gravel and rocky roads. The great thing is that the golf (known furthermore as "The Bus") just laps it all up.

It just doesn't like the corrugations that the local ACT govt folks don't seem to want to fix.

Anyways, will be looking around the forums, and seeing what I can find out about getting a metal skid plate fitted to stop the abuse making its way into the engine bay.

    Cheers, Danny.

    Welcome, Danny,

I think there are some places in the US that sell off the shelf skidplates. They are normally aimed at people who go really low, but no reason they shouldnt work for you.
