Hi Everyone,
This is my first post, in any forum - be gentle!!
I'm a partially funded, part time retiree who has just retracted from a Mazda 2 and a 120 series Prado into a 2012 (July) Tiguan 103TDI DSG as mine & my wife's single, multipurpose vehicle. I've joined the group that I might gather some information on the vehicle from more experienced owners and in turn might be able to contribute something for future owners. I did quite a lot of research before purchasing, using my previous extensive experience in the service division in the franchised motor vehicle dealer network (keeping in mind all the compromises involved when throwing all your expectations into one vehicle) to decide on the Tiguan, which has already shown me great economy, excellent engine, transmission & steering responsiveness, terrific long distance touring comfort, flexible luggage space, easy city manoeuvrability. All this without compromising on ground clearance too much. The only reservation I have is with the future maintenance costs and the space saver spare which I've resolved satisfactorily. All I need to do now is replace the tyres to something more robust for unmade roads, again without compromising highway comfort too much. Pirelli Scorpion STR & Bridgestone D683 are looking most likely. I'll be trawling for off road advice.
See you in the ether.
