Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Greetings from Brisbane! MkV Golf GTI

Hey there guys, just stumbled upon this forum recently, a couple of days after purchasing my candy white MkV golf gti! I'm Tuan from Brisbane, would be awesome to meet a couple of you guys and go for a couple of meets.
I had just bought this car as of the 6th December, 2012. Bought it with 88300km on the clock sits on approx 89100 now Has been taken up Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious, and man, can I say the Golf is awesome. Everything that came with the car was stock, and the previous owner supplied me with a ChippedUK ST3 (Bluefin like unit), which I activated and ran for a bit. Was a lot of fun, but then I headed over to APR to give their trial stage 1 tune a go, and I'm going to have to say that APR wins hands down. (dyno sheet attached below). I'm looking at doing an intake, down pipe, (catback optional at this point in time), and a stage 1 APR tune before the end of February next year. Anyways, thanks for having the time to read this post, but as they say, pictures speak 1000 words Cheers!

Nice car man. I do like the white on a mk5 GTI. Just out of curiosity, did you get a 'high-power vehicle exemption' for your P-plates? Or were you able to get the 125kw/tonne exemption thingy? The latter is what I got done recently.

I have just handed in my exemption, for both the power to weight ratio and "high power vehicle exemption", just in case either one got declined
