WA Volkswagen Sharan 2011 owner

Hi,
I have found this forum by accident as went to VW dealer today to get some material on Amarok and Multivan and have been told that picture of my VW Sharan with CZ plate number have been posted here. I assume there are not that many Sharans around Perth...Anyway, I came here to check out the pics and realized this is a great forum.

The Sharan we have is LHD, Highline, 7-seater, arrived on CDP Carnet to Fremantle in January this year and will stay here until next year - as that is what we have been ordered to do by customs - the car has to leave...that is also the reason for checking Amarok and |Multivan as we have to get something else and there are no Sharans on sale here......

BTW, we have bi-xenon lights, would anyone be able to tell me why so few cars have them fitted here? It was a bit shock to see for example Touareg with halogen lights as that is something I have never seen in Czech..Any reason why these are not that popular?

I think the reason bi-xenons are not as popular is due to cost factor and some manufacturers don't give as as many options as the EU market.

Welcome Vlastik, why do you have to send the car back to CZ? Is it a compliance issue or import restrictions etc??? As far as I know the Sharan isn't available new here although I think there may be an older model black one in Perth somewhere

The reason we have to send the car back and sell it is that the CDP carnet can be extended only once - for another year and then we would need a new one. EU would not have a problem issuing a new carnet, so it could stay here, but Australian customs will not allow this car to stay - even if its exported and then imported back. I have been basicaly told a car with this VIN code will not be allowed to enter Australia again. There could be various reasons for that, but I guess the main one would be protection of the local market as VWs (cars in general) are far cheaper in EU than in Australia....so even if we are staying longer, we will have to send back (lose money), sell (lose money) and then buy another car here (often for 1.5 price which it cost in Czech for the same car) and then again sell when we go back (lose money) and buy a new one in Czech.... so not a money making business for sure But when I went to RAC, I have come across a couple from UK who brought their 2 cars over to WA (as they came for couple of years for work) and the customs refused to extend their carnet for 2nd year stating carnets are supposed to be used for tourism only.... So even worse for them, to send cars back and sell after only 1 year and buy new ones here just for 1 year is not very exciting either....
